Nick’s On Main’s new owner talks to VP Chamber at monthly meeting

The new owner of Ville Platte popular eatery, Nick’s On Main, took a few minutes to introduce himself to the Ville Platte Chamber of Commerce during the group’s monthly meeting on Wednesday.
Eddie Mashni informed chamber members that the restaurant will no longer close its doors during the afternoon. The restaurant will now be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The restaurant will also be open now on Sundays between 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Mashni also gave members a brief synopsis of his background, including being born in Israel, spending decades in New York City as a police officer and then later as a chef.
“I want thank you for your business and we are going to give you the best service we can,” Mashni said.
Chamber President Renee Brown opened the meeting, which featured Nicole Courville from Every Paw Animal Rescue as guest speaker, by telling the members that the chamber has an open door policy when it comes to constructive criticism and on ideas how to have the chamber better serve them.
“We want to be here as a support system for your business,” Brown said. “That is our goal for 2016. What can the Chamber of Commerce do for you and your businesses?”
Also at Wednesday’s meeting, KVPI News Director Stephaine Ware introduced the station’s newest sales person, as well as remind the chamber about the upcoming Swamp Pop Reunion and that Bayou Chicot native, and recent “The Voice” contestant James Dupre will be releasing a new single later this month called “Someday Today.”
St. Landry-Evangeline United Way’s Special Projects Coordinator Susan Fisher also took some time to address the chamber about a pair of upcoming events. The “Women With Heart” awards and the Harlem Ambassadors vs. Team United basketball game.
