One Acadiana addressed the Ville Platte Chamber of Commerce during the group’s monthly meeting held on Wednesday.
One Acadiana’s Rebecca Shirley explained to the Chamber that her organization is planning on creating projects to help bring the nine parishes it services together. Those nine parishes include Evangeline, St. Landry and Lafayette. The Lafayette-based economic development organization has more than 1,200 investors, members, and partners and serves a region of roughly 700,000 people.
Shirley informed the Chamber that One Acadiana will be visiting each of the nine parishes to see what it can do to help improve each area, and that the organization is hopeful about bringing additional industry to each of the parishes.
For anyone interested in reaching out to One Acadiana, Shirley said that they could contact Chamber of Commerce President Tojo Ward or Chamber of Commerce Director Camille Fontenot.
The Chamber also added a new member to its group as Evins Larry & Perry Family Funeral Home in Mamou was approved for membership. The new business will be holding a ribbon cutting on December 9th.
In other news, C.B. Coreil Campus will hold its annual Tree Lighting ceremony between 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, November 28th. The public is invited to attend and there will be cookies and hot coco available, as well as Mr. and Mrs. Santa Clause.
The Chamber is also having its Christmas Parade on Sunday, December 11 which will begin at 5:30 p.m. If anyone is interested in registering for the parade or any additional information, feel free to contact the Chamber of Commerce at (337) 363-1878. The deadline to enter the parade is Thursday, December 8.
The Chamber’s Annual Christmas Social is also slated for December 8 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. held at the Chamber’s offices.
