Our Lady Queen of All Saints holding Blue Mass

Father Mitch Guidry felt it was time for his congregation, and the rest of Evangeline Parish and beyond, to ask God to protect the community’s law enforcement.
Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church will be holding a Blue Mass this coming Tuesday at 6 p.m. The mass will be honoring police, fire fighters and emergency medical personnel. Everyone is invited to attend the event, held on the Feast of the Archangels, including St. Michael, who is the patron saint of police officers.
“After we have had so many assaults on law enforcement officials it was time to just let those people know that we are praying them,” Fr. Guidry said. “There are good officers out there protecting and serving our community. They need our prayers.”
There has been a recent uptick in assaults on law enforcement in the state, including the killings of Shreveport police officer Thomas LaValley, Sunset police officer Henry Nelson and state trooper Steven J. Vincent all in the month of August.
According to Guidry, the reception to having a mass for local law enforcement has been “overwhelming positive.”
Fr. Guidry added, “These people are putting their lives on the line for us. It is really appreciated. This is the least we could do for them.”
