Parish could get PARCC scores by December

It looks like schools in the state of Louisiana will finally receive their PARCC scores come December.
The first round of Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) testing took place during the Spring of the 2014-2015 school year but how each school fared is still unknown.
According to Evangeline Parish Superintendent Toni Hamlin, “the state department now has in their possession what we call raw scores.” Hamlin continued to say at Wednesday nights monthly meeting, “We have no idea what that means. It is just some numbers.”
On Tuesday, October 13, the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) will meet to assign a scale score to the raw scores, which will range from 650 to 850. Then on Thursday, October 15, the Department of Education will apply those cut scores to scale scores.
With all of this data compiled together, the district is looking at receiving preliminary local education agency and school level scores by the week of October 19. “We are getting closer,” Hamlin said.
Also in attendance at Wednesday’s meeting was District 8 BESE member Carolyn Hill. Hill, who is seeking re-election in the October 24 election, informed the board that if she wins re-election removing Louisiana State Superintendent John White “is on my (Hill) agenda.” White has been criticized recently for how long districts and schools have had to wait to receive their PARCC scores and also for his support for the unpopular Common Core learning standards.

#1 Fund raiser - $7,511.40 using VPE funds from fund raiser.
Scholastic Book Fair - $5,407.81 using ME funds from fund raiser.
Oncourse - $10,990.00 for on-line lesson planner/teacher websites using general fund.
Detel Computer Solutions - $18,436.00 for 22 laptops as per district specs for reap recipients using reap funds.
Office center/teachers’ Pet - $5,650.00 for 25 charging/storage for Ipads in classrooms of reap recipients using reap fund.
Mac to School - $49,750.00 for 125 Ipads for reap recipients throughout parish schools using reap funds.
Modern Technologies - $14,170.88 for 16 notebook computers, etc. for head start using early childhood network pilot 3 funds.
Modern Technologies - $10,664.16 for 12 desk top computers for headstart using early childhood network pilot 3 funds.
Approved to pay a bill to Mamou Canal in the amount of $5,012.26 for regular education and special education bus fuel using general funds.
