Pine Prairie Council adopts resolution supporting Cleco

Pine Prairie became the latest to adopt a resolution for Cleco support.
Sabrina Salling, a Cleco representative, was at the village’s Thursday night council meeting asking Pine Prairie’s council members to adopt a resolution that will support private investment firms such as: Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets, British Columbia Investment Management Corporation, John Hancock Financial and other infrastructure investors; purchasing the electricity company.
Before adopting the resolution of support, Salling informed the council that although rumors have been going around that imply that Cleco will incur debt and customers will experience higher rates, these rumors are not true.
Salling said, “You can rest assured that even though we will be owned by a private company, we are still regulated by the public service commission. Therefore, no rates can be increased or decreased without the public service commissions authority.”
Following in line with the City of Ville Platte and Mamou, the adoption of this resolution was unanimously approved by the villages’ council members.
Other items discussed and unanimously approved at the November 12th meeting were:
•Repaint the village’s gazebo as well as redo the two welcome signs.
•Use grant money that has been acquired to repair the culvert that is collapsing at Guillory’s Grocery.
•Christmas parade to be held on December 6, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Line up will begin at 1:30.
•Allow Joshua and Kristal Davis to live in a camper for a period of 60 days while they renovate their mobile home.
