At the opening of Pine Prairie’s council meeting last Thursday, the village’s mayor Terry Savant informed council members of updates that have been made recently.
Savant said, “We have installed the new scoreboards at the Dixie Youth, and they are up and running.”
The mayor then went on to let the board know that two new nets for the tennis courts, costing around $750 for both, had been purchased.
Because of the trouble the village has had with keeping people from breaking the tennis nets, council member Debbie Oge said, “Should we invest in having cameras around the tennis courts to maybe stop people from breaking the nets?”
While the mayor felt cameras would be unnecessary, council member Tammy Hammond thought the cameras would be a good investment.
Hammond said, “Instead of spending $800 for new nets every time they break, we could catch the people breaking them on cameras and stop this. If they are on the camera, they can’t deny it.”
Other items approved at the meeting were:
•Adopt ordinance to band vicious dogs in town.
•Adopt resolution for municipal water pollution prevention.
