PINE PRAIRIE - The Pine Prairie Zoning Commission met Tuesday, August 11, to discuss Keith Jackson’s request to open an electrical and plumbing business on Elm Street. The location was previously occupied by T.J.’s Tire and Service Center.
Jackson addressed the board, stating that he would be gradually moving in and eventually replacing Frank’s car wash. He will use the location as a space to work out of and store inventory. He will add shelving along the walls and a sales counter. Once any changes are made, the fire marshal will do an inspection. Mayor Terry Savant noted that any new changes to a building must go through the inspection process. Savant added that the location is not in the commercial district and due to the change in ownership, it is not grandfathered in.
As a result, the council has to approve a business in the area. Members of both the council and zoning board approved Jackson’s request to open his new business at the location.
