The Evangeline Parish Fire District #2 board discussed finalizing plans for the new Chataignier fire truck at Tuesday night’s regular meeting.
Board member Steve Thibodeaux said, “Lester Daire and Fire Chief Chris Harrison are going to meet at the fire station Wednesday night to go over the final plans for the new Chataignier fire truck. The truck will be ordered in November, and it will be ready in February of 2018.
“All substations are getting new trucks a year at a time. One truck is already in and another will be in around February. They told us we could lock in the price if we ordered all new trucks by a certain date.”
In addition to the fire truck, the board discussed culvert work to be done at a station and promotion of a fire district tax renewal on the November ballot, including signs and advertisements.
The board unanimously approved the following motions: the Aug. 9 meeting minutes; the financial report; bills for payment; and the fire chief’s report.
The board’s next meeting will be Oct. 11.
