Restaurant, toy drive discussed at Chamber meeting

Ronnie Arnaud addressed the Ville Platte Chamber of Commerce at the group’s monthly meeting on Wednesday.
The owner and operator of Krazy Cajun Cafe in Mamou and Ronnie’s Cajun Cafe in Eunice is opening up a new restaurant on Main Street in Ville Platte, called Allon Manger.
The new establishment will be housed in the old Evangeline Bank building.
“I can cook any kind of food you want,” Arnuad said. I want to do it right. I want to get it right for the town of Ville Platte.”
Arnaud estimated that the new restaurant will be open by the first of the year and if anyone is interested in a job to please come by on Thursdays to fill out an application.
Jennifer Walker also addressed the group about a new toy drive that Slap Ya Mama! is holding this year.
Mama’s Toy Box will help give toys to needy families right here in Evangeline Parish. Drop off locations will be at local churches and businesses around town.
Residents can drop off an new unwrapped toy on Dec. 11 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Slap Ya Mama’s Main Street location to receive a free bottle of hot sauce.
All toys from the drive will be distributed on Dec. 15.
In other business:
•The Chamber of Commerce’s Christmas Social, which will serve as the group’s final Business After Hour event of the year, will be held Dec. 10 at 5:30 p.m.
•The City of Ville Platte’s annual Christmas parade will be held on Dec. 6 starting at 4 p.m. This year’s parade will feature several floats from the Cotton Festival, which were unable to run in that parade due to rain.
•The Chamber’s next meeting will be on Wednesday, Jan. 20 at Nicks on Main at Noon.
