PINE PRAIRIE — During the January 14, regular meeting of the Pine Prairie Village Council, Mayor Terry Savant gave an update on the prison. He said he recently attended a luncheon with the GEO Group to discuss a contract for the use of the prison. Savant noted that the contract and paperwork are still being ironed out but that the meeting went well and everything looks very encouraging. He also said that approximately 650 inmates have been placed in the facility since Wednesday, January 6.
In other business, the council:
•Approved the minutes of the December 10, regular meeting and the December 23, special meeting.
•Approved the payment of monthly expenditures.
