Scam targeting residents, claiming to be Ville Platte Fire Department fund raiser

A scam has been reported in which residents are being solicited for donations to the Ville Platte Fire Department over the phone. These callers are asking for credit card information and, in one instance, promised tickets to the Heymann Center for their donation. Ville Platte Police Chief Neal Lartigue asks any resident who receives a call like this to contact the police department at (337) 363-1313 and report it. Please provide the number of the caller if available. The Ville Platte Fire Department will never contact anyone by phone to solicit donations. This is a scam. Do not give any personal information to the caller and immediately contact the police department.
