Smoked Meat Festival set for June 27-28
The 22nd Annual Smoked Meat Festival is set for Friday, June 27, and Saturday, June 28, at the Ville Platte Civic Center grounds.
Advance tickets for the festival can be purchased for admission to this year’s event at www.smfvp.com for $12 per adult per day and $5 for children under 12 (three percent service fee for advance purchases). Advance tickets can be purchased until June 15. Tickets purchased at the gate will be $15 per adult per day and $5 for children under 12. IDs are required. No ice chests or pets. Lawn chairs are welcome.
This year’s celebration is being dedicated to all veterans in honor of their service to our country.
Sunday, June 22, will be the beauty pageant to select Miss Le Festival de la Viande Boucanee (ages 17-23 years), Teen Miss Boucanee (ages 14-16 years) and Ms. Boucanee (ages 23 and older). This pageant will be held at 7 p.m. in the Ville Platte Civic Center.
Thursday, June 26, will be the beauty pageant for younger courts (ages birth to 13 years), which will be held at 6 p.m. in the Ville Platte Civic Center.
On Friday, June 27, the festival gates open at 4 p.m., with entertainers Kyle Veillon, James Dupre and Daryl Singletary taking the stage beginning at 6 p.m.
On Saturday, June 28, gates open at 9 a.m. A DJ will be providing music from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Queens Coronation will be held at 4 p.m., awards will be given at 5 p.m. and live music will begin at 6 p.m. Scheduled entertainers for Saturday night include Mike Dean, Jaryd Lane and Mark Chestnutt.
