Fontenot charged with malfeasance in office, extortion

According to a press release by the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office, a Ville Platte police officer is in now in the Evangeline Parish Jail and has been charged with three counts of malfeasance in office, extortion and video voyeurism after a complaint was officially filed on Friday, August 18.
The officer has been identified as Larry Paul Fontenot.
According to the release,on Friday, August 18, 2015, a concerned citizen came into the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office to file a report for the misconduct of a Ville Platte Police Officer.
The concerned citizen stated that on Friday August 14, 2015 she was repairing a flat tire on her vehicle when she was approached by the Officer later identified as Larry Paul Fontenot. Officer Fontenot requested that she reveal to him some personal body parts and allow him to take pictures. Officer Fontenot also solicited another young lady who was with her.
Officer Fontenot threaten the two young ladies by stating he would have the Louisiana State Police cite them with a DWI (Drinking While Intoxicated) if they did not comply. Officer Fontenot later followed them to a local Shell Station known as the Y-Not Stop where he showed the photos to other Officers on duty.
Fontenot was called in earlier Friday for questioning by EPSO Investigators. After questioning, Fontenot was arrested and booked into the Evangeline Parish Jail on the charges of Malfeasance in Office (3 counts), Extortion, and Video Voyeurism.
Fontenot’s bond is set at $100,000.00.
