Evangeline Parish Registrar of Voters Lucas Buller has announced the close of voter registration for the March 5, 2016 election is Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016.
In addition to the closing of the books, the upcoming March 5th Presidential Preference Primary is a closed party primary. This means that the election is closed by choice of the Democrat and Republican parties in Louisiana. This means that only those voters who are registered as Democrats will be able to vote for candidates on the Democratic Party Ballot and only those voters who are registered as Republicans will be able to vote for Republican candidates on the Republican Party Ballot.
If you are not a registered Democrat or Republican you will not be eligible to vote in the Presidential Preference Party Primary on March 5th. However, in Mamou and Chatagnier every registered voter is eligible to vote in the Chief of Police election.
You may verify the current information on your voter record by calling our office at (337) 363-5538 or by visiting the website: geauxvote.com.
