VP chamber changing meeting days from Mondays to Wednesdays
During its monthly meeting May 19, the Ville Platte Chamber of Commerce voted to change its meeting days from Mondays to Wednesdays.
Camille Fontenot, chamber director, said the chamber needed to change its meeting date because Nick’s on Main, where it meets, will close on Mondays. The chamber will meet there next month on June 25, the fourth Wednesday of that month, because Fontenot will be out of the country before then. Starting in July, the chamber will meet on the third Wednesday of each month.
Guest speakers at the chamber meeting this week were organizers of this year’s Smoked Meat Festival, Renee Brown, Ava Vidrine and Kayla Kincanon. People can go online (www.smfvp.com) to purchase advanced tickets, to fill out forms to enter the cooking competition or to find out about this year’s festival schedule.
This is the second year the festival is being organized by the local non-profit PING Enterprises, in association with the former organizers, VVA Chapter 632.
Chamber President Kirk Soileau announced during the chamber meeting that the silent auction at the organization’s annual banquet raised a record of more than $15,000.
