VPHS homecoming parade lineup set
The Ville Platte High School 2014 Homecoming Parade will be held Friday, October 10. The parade route begins at the corner of Main and Dupre streets, where Citizen’s Bank and Mikey’s Donuts are located.
The parade starts at 4 p.m.; line-up begins not before 3 p.m.
Ville Platte Chief of Police Neal Lartigue has approved the following line-up instructions for the VPHS parade:
•Main Street will be blocked beginning at the intersection with Thompson Street.
•The VPHS Homecoming Court – and only the court – will line up on Main Street between Thompson and Dupre streets, in front of the new library and across from Mikey’s Donuts.
•The other parade entries – trailers, vehicles, and walkers – will line up on South Dupre Street.
•There will be no lining up on North Dupre, alongside Citizen’s Bank.
•The line-up on South Dupre Street will be in two rows.
•The overflow will line-up along the back of the empty lot on West Magnolia Street.
•Line-up is first-come, first-served, with Ville Platte High School and Ville Platte Police Department officials controlling the flow of the parade.
•If there is more than one vehicle associated with an entry, then all vehicles or trailers must arrive together in order to leave together. There will be no “line jumping” to try to keep float entries together.
•To reach the VPHS line-up spot, travel down West Cotton Street to Thompson Street. Turn at Thompson Street.
•Parade entries do not use Magnolia Street to reach the line-up.
•Magnolia Street will be closed between South Dupre and South Dossman streets.
Copies of the parade line-up are available at the VPHS office.
Any politicians who wish to participate in the parade may do so. There is no fee to participate.
