VPPD charges man involved in ‘suspicious’ death of VP woman
The Ville Platte Police Department has charged Larry Slaughter with second-degree murder. Slaughter was being sought in the death of Latoya Richard, a 29-year-old woman who was found dead in her home on High School Drive with her head in a bucket of water.
Police initially ruled Richard’s death as “suspicious” and an investigation began. Now, Slaughter is in custody and is being held in the Evangeline Parish Jail on a $125,000 bond. Slaughter was arrested by the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office near Beaver Creek early Wednesday morning, January 14.
