Washington woman expected to be charged in shooting of parents

A Washington woman has been charged with attempted first-degree murder by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office in connection with the shooting of her parents on Wednesday night.
Jamie Kristen Fontenot, 27, allegedly shot her 59-year-old father once in the chest and her 58-year-old mother once in the back, with a second shot grazing her mother's ear. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found Fontenot sitting on the front porch with a gun. She was detained without incident. Both parents were taken to a local hospital. Her mother was released, but her father remained in critical condition as of Friday morning.
