TURKEY CREEK — At Monday night’s Turkey Creek council meeting, the village’s mayor Heather Cloud discussed the grants she has applied for and ones she would like to apply for to repair the villages water tower.
After the mayor informed the board that the Local Government Assistance Program (LGAP) grant for $25,000 was applied for last January, the village’s engineer Adam Janet said, “I have been told that it looks like we will get funded for the full amount.”
This money will be put towards repainting the water tower, which the mayor said “will hopefully take place sometime next year.”
The mayor then informed the council that the village has $15,900 to fix the horseshoe drive at the civic center, but she would like to use that for the water tower instead.
Cloud said, “We have that grant money set aside hoping that we can change the scope of the project so that the money can go towards the painting of the water tower, because that would reduce the amount that we have to contribute greatly.”
Along with the LGAP grant and the $15,900, the mayor plans to apply for a Community Water Enrichment Fund (CWEF) grant to help pay for the water tower project as well, but this cannot be done without the council’s approval.
All council members were in favor of the mayor applying for the CWEF grant, which Cloud intends to begin working on immediately.
Other items approved were:
•Request to move $80,000 from the police fund to the emergency savings fund.
