Women's Leadership Council looking for honorees in parish

Nominations are being sought by the St. Landry -- Evangeline United Way Women’s Leadership Council for one female honoree to be selected from each of the two parishes served by the organization.
The two women leaders will be honored “who have distinguished themselves as caring, compassionate philanthropists and community volunteers,” according to a news release from the St. Landry -- Evangeline United Way.
They will be announced during the third annual Women With Heart luncheon February 6, at the Opelousas Civic Center from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Women’s Leadership Council is sponsoring the luncheon.
Keynote speaker at the luncheon will be State Representative Helena Moreno, who has sponsored strong legislative bills that target domestic violence.
The honorary chair for the Women With Heart luncheon will be Adele Nunez of Eunice, a leader in many facets of education who was named Outstanding Administrator of the Year, and who helped the St. Landry -- Evangeline United Way launch the Dolly Parton Imagination Library with a pilot program in Eunice in 2008.
