Dear Editor,
This Saturday, March 25, some very critical tax renewals will be on the ballot in all precincts in the parish. These tax renewals support vital services that we use here in Evangeline Parish every day.
This letter is meant to inform the public in order for you the voters, to know what these tax renewals support. Parish wide will be a renewal of a 2.07 mill tax that supports the health unit services for all of Evangeline Parish. Throughout the parish there will be different millage renewals for public cemeteries and roads. Our cemetery millages pay for grass cutting and maintenance of public cemeteries. Our road millages are critical for funding employee salaries, equipment, equipment repairs, and equipment fuel. They purchase road materials, such as limestone, gravel and culverts. These items are used to improve and maintain drainage in the parish, and to maintain the excellent parish roads that we have.
We travel on these roads every day for work, school, shopping, doctor’s appointments, etc. We recently invested nearly $30 million dollars building and resurfacing asphalt roads throughout the parish. These tax renewals are all critical and they’re what we need to continue to operate the parish health unit, to continue to maintain our cemeteries and to maintain our asphalt roads in good condition and work to improve all parish roads.
Remember these taxes are all renewals. Please vote on Election Day March 25th.
Ryan Ardoin,
President of Evangeline
