Before Wednesday night’s battle with Sacred Heart for second place in District 6-2A, the Mamou Lady Demons had to get by the Port Barre Lady Red Devils. It took eight innings, but Mamou took a 6-3 victory over the host team.

Mamou scored two runs in the top of the fourth inning and then one in the top of the fifth frame to go up 3-0.

Port Barre responded with two runs in the bottom of the sixth and one run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

With the contest locked at 3-3, the Lady Demons responded with three more runs in the top of the eighth frame. Senior pitcher Sadie Fontenot held the Lady Red Devils down in the bottom of the inning and Mamou went on to win the contest.
