The Ville Platte Police Department recently responded to a disturbance involving a father and son whose argument turned physical.
According to a press release from Police Chief Neal Lartigue, “On June 19, 2017 Officers with the Ville Platte Police Department responded to a disturbance call on West Oak Street.”
The chief’s release went on to state that upon arrival at the scene, “officers learned that a father and son had an argument which led to the father,” who has been identified as Joseph Shawn Fontenot, “striking his son in the head with a hammer.”
As the son “tried to stop his fall” after being hit by his father, “his hand and arm went through a window of the home causing cuts and bruising.”
According to the release, Fontenot’s son was “transported to Mercy Regional and treated for his cuts and bruises on his arm and hand and was also treated for a concussion and bleeding on his head.”
Fontenot, 44, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery. His bond was set at $35,000.00.
