Meyer, Young united in holy matrimony

St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice served as the setting for the evening ceremony uniting Laurie Anne Meyer and John Randall Young, II, in holy matrimony. The ceremony was held on April 4 at 7 p.m., with Fr. Sedrick Sonnier officiating.

Laurie is the daughter of Leonard John and Pearl Meyer of Roberts Cove, and is the granddaughter of John K. and Anna Meyer of Roberts Cove, and Saul and Rose Watson of Crowley. She is a graduate of Notre Dame High School and LSUE at Eunice. She is currently employed by Dr. Robert K. Turk Chiropractic Clinic as an office manager.

John is the son of John Randall and Glenda Young of Eunice. He is the grandson of Isay and Edna Young of Chataignier and Eddie and Edna Marks of Krotz Springs. He is a graduate of St. Edmund High School and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a degree in business. He is currently employed at John R. Young dealership in Eunice.

Escorted by her father, the bride was radiant in an ivory strapless, floor-length Galina bridal gown accented with an ivory lace bodice overlay which was complimented with an ivory silk charmeuse sash. The bride complimented her dress with antique chandelier pearl earrings. Her headpiece was a simple, flowing veil complimented by a Galina pearl and rhinestone comb. She carried a bouquet of ivory bridal roses, blush mini calla lilies and green hydrangeas accented with bluperum greenery tied with an ivory sating ribbon. Onion grass was weaved throughout the bouquet.

Attending the bride as matron of honor was Stephanie Thevenot of Baton Rouge, sister of the bride. She wore a full-length halter Bella satin dress in latte, accented with a latte and bronze beaded waistband. She carried a smaller version bouquet of the bride’s.

Serving the groom as best man was John Randall Young, father of the groom. The groom and groomsmen’s attire included a traditional black suit with a matching black tie. The groom wore a blush calla lily and green hydrangea bloom boutonniere. The best man was pinned with an ivory rose boutonniere.

Serving as flower girl was Alexandra Marie Lantz, daughter of the bride. She wore a sleeveless full-length silk dupioni Jane dress in champagne accented with a beaded pearl trim across the empire waistline. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of porcelina roses wrapped at the stems with a delicate ivory satin ribbon.

Serving as ring bearer was Emmitt Durham, son of Todd and Robbin Durham of Baton Rouge. His attire was a traditional black suit with a black matching tie accented with an ivory rose boutonniere.

The bride’s mother, Pearl Meyer, was unable to attend the wedding due to a sudden illness.

The groom’s mother wore a shimmery eggplant mock two-piece, full-length gown with a matching organza jacket which featured three-quartered length sleeves. The gown was accented with metallic textured embellishment on the bodice as well as the collar and cuffs of the jacket. The dress was complimented with gold colored shoes, as well as amethyst and gold jewelry. She carried an ivory calla lily, accented with an ivory satin ribbon.

Upon entering the church, guests were ushered to their seats by Chad Thevenot, brother-in-law of the bride; and Greg Richard, friend of the couple. The ushers wore cream rose boutonnieres.

The church altar was accented with Easter lilies and the aisle was decorated with arched palm plants and white Easter lilies.

Participants during the ceremony were Vocalist Arien Beaugh Harper, accompanied by Pianist Connie Beaugh.

Scriptural readers included Jason Hanaemann, brother-in-law of the bride; and Kristen Duplechin, niece of the groom. The gift bearers were Chris and Rhonda Duplechin, the groom’s sister and brother-in-law.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at St. Thomas More Social Hall. An atmosphere of elegance and celebration was prepared for the new couple as well as for family and friends.

At the entrance, an antique fleur de lis desk held the registry book along with matching side tables which displayed the couple’s parents’ wedding portraits. Rich chocolate and ivory tapestry draped the entrance.

The bridal focal area was designed with Walnut crowning and columns also enhanced with lush chocolate and ivory drapery. Tall tapers and accent florals in hues of pink trimmed this special area.

The wedding cake was a three-tiered square cake decorated with a butter cream lace pattern and garnished with fresh blush pink roses. The filling was white chocolate and chocolate mousse.

The groom’s cake was a two-tiered chocolate fondue cake complimented with dark chocolate spiral designs topped with fresh chocolate covered strawberries.

Tall columns swagged the fresh greenery and coordinating linens marked the banquet area which featured a decorative delectable menu specially chosen by the bride and groom.

A wine bar featuring signature cheeses was enjoyed, along with the romantic atmosphere created by the grape arbor with firefly lighting.

Guest tables were covered in matching linens, along with towering glass vases that held fresh florals.

Special out of town guests registered from places such as Baton Rouge, Arkansas and Texas.

Following a wedding trip to Zihuatanejo, Mexico, the couple will reside in Eunice.
