Minister’s Corner: A project in prayer

In Matthew 21:18-22, we have the incident where Jesus approached a fig tree desiring to partake of its fruit only to find it had only leaves. Christ cursed the tree and it soon withered and died. When the disciples saw this, they marveled. Jesus used this occasion to teach them something about prayer. He said, “Verily I say unto you, if you have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto the mountain, be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea. It shall be done. All things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” (Matthew 21:21-22 KJV).

I want to challenge you today to pursue a project in prayer. Think of something you know beyond a shadow of a doubt God wants you to accomplish in your life. I’m not talking about material acquisitions or anything along that line, I’m talking about victory over sin, a restored relationship, an effective ministry - something you know God wants you to accomplish in your life, but has eluded you for far too long. Then begin praying for it in a big way. Begin praying for it in a bold way. Begin praying for it with absolute faith. Not faith in yourself or in your own goodness, but faith in God’s power. Whatever obstacle, whatever mountain is standing in your way, begin praying in faith the mountain will be moved. You will see the results because God is faithful.
