Morse hosts community meeting
MORSE – Acadiana Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D) Council, in partnership with LA Department of Agriculture Forestry and Acadia Parish Fire District 5 in Morse, recently hosted a community meeting on “Becoming a fire wise community”.
Scott Edwards, Coordinator for Acadiana RC&D Council, presented the workshop Wednesday, July 2nd at the Morse Fire Department. As a result of hosting that town hall meeting, Morse volunteer fire department received a check for $1,000 from the Council as part of a pass-through grant from the Department of Ag and Forestry. Additionally, large Smokey the Bear signs in that community provide up-to-date fire danger information, so land owners can understand the best times for burning in their area.
Alan Small with the Dept. of Ag and Forestry also discussed how rural communities can make their home and community fire safe.
