Two individuals were arrested on August 19, 2016 by Mamou Police Department in connection with what MPD Chief of Police Brent Zackery called a “rash of car break-ins” that happened over a nine day period.
According to an MPD press release, “after four days of investigations, which consisted of questioning people and gathering security footage,” the MPD was able to arrest Damien Williams, of Mamou, and Jonathon Roberts, also of Mamou, for the crime.
Williams was arrested for one count of simple burglary of a vehicle and one count of theft, while Roberts was arrested for one count of principal to burglary of a vehicle and two counts of principal to theft.
On the same day that Williams and Roberts were arrested, the MPD also arrested Christopher Charles, Jr., of Eunice, after he attempted to break into a home within the town limits.
According to an MPD press release, the suspect “attempted to break-in to a home on Maple St. by breaking a window, which triggered the house alarm.”
The release went on to state that “upon arrival at the scene, officers were able to locate the suspect hiding in a bush with a busted hand from breaking the window.”
Charles was arrested for attempted burglary of an inhabited dwelling and simple criminal damage to property.
