My View

Now that we’ve had the chance to get acquainted, I would like to share a few of my everyday experiences of my life at work.

Working for the paper for the past seven months has given me the opportunity to meet a lot of very interesting people.

Since taking over Lifestyles in February, I have had the chance to really get to know most of the ladies in the social groups on a personal basis.

The ladies from the Garden Club have always made me feel welcomed and they truly appreciate all the coverage that we give them. And the same goes for the Crowley Art Association, Les Dames Acadienne, Acadia VFC, NAUW, Eta Kappa, Beta Kappa, Delta Sigma and any other groups or individuals that I might have failed to mention.

A couple of weeks ago, I did a feature on the history of the Crowley Garden Club. It was the clubs 60th anniversary and also their 27th Annual Flower Show.

This was an opportunity to learn everything I could about the club and its past and present members. With the help of club member Karen Skelton, we were able to research the clubs history as for back as the 1940’s.

There is one lady in particular, that stands out in my mind. Mrs. Billie Faulkerson was a very active member of the Garden Club from the very beginning. After having the chance to meet with her for an interview, I would have to say, she is still a remarkable person.

The Garden Club’s Annual Flower Show was a great success. There were so many beautiful arrangements entered in the show by the club members. I don’t know how the judges came to their final decisions on the winners. They were all magnificent.

I really enjoy my job. You might say, it gives me a sense of being that I might have never known. On that note I will have to say, “It’s all in a days work”.
