Narcotics team on the road

Narcotic agents from the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office and Ville Platte Police Department joined forces to execute a warrant Friday, May 23, at a Ville Platte residence, 516 Martin Luther King.

“We had been pulling surveillance at this residence for several weeks,” Captain Keith Dupre, chief of detectives for the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office, said. “We observed traffic walking over from one house to the next and vehicles stopping frequently for short periods of time.”

A warrant was executed Friday, and authorities located a crack pipe, residue, a razor blade which appeared to be used to cut cocaine and marijuana. As a result of this investigation, two were charged. Dupre said Larua Lee Jones, 31 (dob 9-12-76), and Donovan Alfred, 17 (dob 6-5-90), both of 516 MLK Drive, Ville Platte, were charged. He said the female was charged for knowing and allowing the narcotic activity to occur at the residence.

On Thursday, the two agencies executed a search warrant at 1516 Carl Street and Gary Sims, no age given, 1516 Carl St., Ville Platte, was arrested for distribution of ecstasy. More charges are pending as this investigation continues, Detective Ervin Pitre, Ville Platte Police Department, said.

He said the group also searched a vacant residence, and although they did not find anyone inside, they did recover some evidence that supports drug activity is occurring at this residence.
