Ned Decoux

Catahoula – Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2008, at St. Rita Catholic Church for Ned Decoux, 83, who passed away on Monday, March 24, 2008, at Dauterive Hospital in New Iberia.

Interment followed at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery.

Rev. Fr. Donald Pelous, pastor of St. Rita Catholic Church, officiated at the funeral Mass.

Mr. Decoux was a veteran of World War II having served in the U. S. Army National Guard for three years. He was a parishioner of St. Rita Catholic Church, serving as an usher for many years and was member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 10185, V. F. W., American Legion, and was the charter president of the Catahoula Water System. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and searching for ancestors. His most treasured moments were those times spent with his family, especially his loving wife of 61 years.

He is survived by his wife, Doris O. Decoux of Isle Labbe; three sons, Philip Decoux and his wife Judy of Lafayette, Alfred Decoux of Lafayette and Albert Decoux and his wife Linda of St. Martinville; two daughters, Kathryn Latiolais and her husband Raleigh of St. Martinville, and Patsy Millet and her husband Terry of Lafayette; one brother, LeRoy Decoux and his wife Mazel of New Iberia; one sister, Nell Louviere of New Iberia; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Lucide Melancon Decoux; and two nephews, Cornell Louviere and Kim Decoux.

A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

Pallbearers were Philip, Alfred, Albert and Terry Decoux, Randy Jude Bishop Jr. and Lee Wisdom.

Honorary pallbearers were LeRoy Decoux, Alvin Bonin, Camille Blanchard, Horace Wisdom, Terry Millet, Raleigh Latiolais and Glenn Judice.
