Nelson, Christy plan wedding

Koury Beth Nelson and Michael James Christy of Crowley along with their parents announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

The couple will be united in marriage during a 2 p.m. ceremony on May 24, at the First Lutheran Church in Crowley.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Wayne and Aline S. Nelson. She is the granddaughter of Walter and Ouida Nelson, the late Emery Stakes and the late Margaret S. Stakes.

Koury is a 2003 graduate of Crowley High School and attended LSU-Eunice. She graduated from LSU-Shreveport with a bachelor of science in general psychology and is currently pursuing a master’s of science in counseling psychology from LSU- Shreveport.

The groom-elect is the son of Kathy Spell. He is the grandson of Lawrence Duhon and Alice Meche.

Michael is a 2002 graduate of Crowley High School and attended LSU-Eunice. He will graduate in May from LSU-Shreveport with a bachelor of criminal justice. Michael plans to work for the Shreveport Police Department upon completion of his degree.

The couple will reside in Shreveport after the wedding.
