New motel planned

A Lake Charles investors’ group plans to build a Holiday Inn Express in Eunice.

The City Council accepted Govin Investments' petition for annexation at its March meeting Tuesday night.

The tract in question is the former site of John’s Lounge (west of Popeye’s) on West Laurel.

According to city officials, plans call for construction of a 68-room motel, with an indoor swimming pool.

A public hearing will be held on the petition before it next appears before the council.
