Couple wed during candlelight ceremony

Caroline Elizabeth Renfro of Lafayette and Kyle Garland Flettrich of Baton Rouge were joined in holy matrimony on Saturday, May 10 at 7 p.m. during a candlelight ceremony at St. Michael Catholic Church wuth Fr. Gary Schexnayder officiating.

Caroline is the daughter of Helen Baker Renfro and the late Oliver Rodman Renfro of Lafayette. Her maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Donald Leslie Baker of Shereveport, and the late Lois Ann Oliver Renfro of Bastrop and paternal grandparents are the late Oswald Rodman Renfro of North Little Rock, Arkansas.

She is a graduate of Notre Dame High School and Louisiana State University, and is an allied member of the American Society of Interior Designers. She is a partner of Richard-Renfro Designs.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Schaaf Flettrich, Jr. of Baton Rouge. His maternal grandparents are Mrs. Margaret Ingle Walls of Covington and the late Dr. Edward Garland Walls of New Orleans. His paternal grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Schaaf Flettrich, Sr. of New Orleans.

Kyle is a graduate of St. Paul’s High School in Covington, and earned a B.S. degree from Louisiana Tech University in construction engineering technology and a M.B.A from Louisiana State University. He is a partner of Construction Management Solutions.

Escorted by her grandfather, the bride was ravishing in an ivory colored strapless gown of organza. The simple and elegant bodice was highlighted by an ivory satin ribbon. The naturel dropped waistline fell into an a-line skirt accented with three delicate tiers of organza. The back of the gown boasted a lovely dip and flowed into a chapel length train of organza layers.

Her headpiece was a fingertip length veil of silk illusion. She carried a bouquet of beautiful arranged antique green hydrangeas, chocolate roses, off-white callas and ivory roses.

In keeping with tradition, the bride carried a silver cross that has been in her maternal grandmother’s family since 1801, as something old. Her bridal gown served as something new, pearl and diamond earrings were borrowed from her mother, and sapphire baguettes in her engagement ring served as something blue.

Mary Brooks Renfro, sister to the bride, served as maid of honor, and Allissa Leggio, niece of the groom, served as junior bridesmaid. The bridesmaids wore satin-faced ball gowns of celadon blue. The dropped waist was covered with a fawn colored tie sash.

The groom was attended by his sister, Kathy Flettrich Leggio.

Showing guests to their seats were usher’s Darrell Anthony Leggio, brother-in-law of the groom, Brandon Kyle Leggio, and Tyler Austin Leggio, nephews of the groom, Homer Ed Barousse, uncle of the bride, Dr. Tim Young Baker, friend of the bride.

Flower girls attending were Evelyn Marie Andrus and Caroline Caswell Wates, friends of the bride. Each flower girl was attired in a tea length, float dress in white trimmed in ecru satin. The dresses featured a scalloped, hand embroidered collar with ecru flowering vines. Chosen as ring bearers were Charles Davis Blanchard and Thomas James Bellard, friends of the bride.

The mother of the bride was lovely in a two-piece full length platinum organdy gown. The mother of the groom was beautiful in a full length gown of navy blue chiffon, accentuated with a beaded jacket. Each were presented with a hand-held bouquet of ivory roses, hypercarium berries, ivory callas, and peach stock.

Appropriate musical selections were provided by Alberta Lyons, organist; Will Green, trumpeteer; Jodi Bollich, vocalist; and Tommy Benoit, violinist.

Scripture were read by Wendy Walker and Anderson Colins, both friends of the bride.

A reception at the Townhouse in Lafayette immediately followed the wedding ceremony.

The bride’s cake featured a three tired confection adorned with the couple’s monogram on the sides. The cake was topped and garnished with hydrangeas.

Out of town guest registered from Texas, Oregon, New York, Mississippi and various parts of Louisiana.

Upon returning from a wedding trip to Hawaii, the couple will reside in Baton Rouge.

A rehearsal dinner was held on the night prior to the wedding at Café Vermillionville in Lafayette. The 7 p.m. affair was hosted by the groom’s parents.
