Rough weather

CROWLEY – All of Acadiana got pounded Thursday during the early morning hours by rain and damaging winds. In Crowley there was no major damage done despite all of Acadia Parish being under a tornado warning from about 6:20 a.m. until 6:45 a.m., although there was moderate flooding in some areas. A tornado watch remained in effect until 11 a.m. A urban and small stream flood advisory was also issued for Acadia Parish.

Lafayette Parish and the surrounding areas sustained the most damage, according to reports. In Lafayette, radio stations received many calls Thursday morning from motorists reporting stop lights out and flooding on the roadways. The Oil Center in Lafayette sustained damage from a tornado. Winds also damaged property in River Ranch and Breaux Bridge. Many roads, including Pinhook around the Oil Center, were closed, as well as schools around Lafayette and in Vermilion Parish.
