Rickey McGee seeking District Four seat
MAMOU - Rickey James McGee announced this week, he is seeking the Councilman, District Four seat on the Mamou Town Council in this fall’s election. His announcement follows:
“My fellow friends and neighbors (people of District Four), my name is Rickey James McGee. I am a lifelong resident of Mamou. I am a father of three children and grandfather of four. I am announcing my candidacy for city council of District Four. I was a former police officer for 10 years in Mamou (achieving the rank of sergeant). I now work construction for Luke Deshotel (Hoot systems). I have a vision for the Town of Mamou and District Four.
“My goals include:
•Working closely with the Mamou Police Department.
•Be the people’s voice in town hall.
•Raise my sleeves and go to work.
•No deals for political gains.
•Safe recreation for our children.
•Keep our elders safe.
•Drainage improvements.
•Sewer improvements that are much needed.
•Employee raises and much more.
“On April 29, there was an article in the Acadian Press (Making a Difference). Together with friends, neighbors and the people of District Four, we can make a difference.
“Let me be the fourth musketeer to raise my sleeves, to help make this a beautiful town for us and our family, children and visitors. I am looking forward to meeting all my neighbors, friends and the great people of District Four.
“Let me express my greatest sympathy for a well-known and respected man.
“In loving memory, Mr. J.L. Saucier; our prayers are with you and your family. We lost a very important person in our community. You will never be forgotten. Thank you, Rickey James McGee,” he said.
