New sign points out Swamp Pop Museum
People driving through Ville Platte down Main Street will have no problem knowing where to turn in order to visit the Swamp Pop Museum.
That’s because people involved with the museum put up a sign with an arrow pointing north -- toward the museum -- at the corner of Main and Northwest Railroad Avenue.
“We want to make sure people know we’re open,” said Mike Perron. “It’s a little thing, but it means a lot to us,” he added.
Perron said the museum staff appreciated the building owners of the where the sign was being placed on Tuesday, November 19 -- Dirk Deville and Eugene Fontenot -- for letting the museum put up the sign.
Perron said museum volunteers are already thinking past the coming holiday season to Mardi Gras, when the museum will host a Mardi Gras eve dance on March 3. More than 15 bands have been lined up, along with the museum’s house band, Cypress Band, featuring Warren Storm and Willie Tee.
