Turkey Tournament kicks off Monday
The 2013 Sacred Heart Turkey Tournament will begin tomorrow morning at Sacred Heart High School. The double elimination event will go through Wednesday evening. The finals for the girl’s bracket will be held Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m., while the boy’s bracket finals will take place at 8 p.m. that night.
The boy’s bracket starts at 12:30 p.m. with Pine Prairie facing off against Carencro. The winner of that game will face off against Basile Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. The loser of the PPHS/CHS contest will play Tuesday at 11 a.m. against the loser of the Mamou and Opelousas Catholic game, which takes place Monday at 3:30 p.m., The winner of the Mamou/OCHS game will not play until Tuesday at 2 p.m.
Iota and Livonia play Monday at 5 p.m. with the winner meeting the winner of the St. Ed’s and Sacred Heart game. The SHHS/SEH game will take place Monday night at 8 p.m. The loser of the SHHS/SEH game will meet the loser of the IHS/LHS game Tuesday at 5 p.m. and the two winners will play Tuesday at 8 p.m.
The girl’s bracket will also begin tomorrow. St. Ed’s and Port Barre start things off with game at 11 a.m. The winner of that game will meet Basile at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. The loser of the PBHS/SEH contest will play Tuesday at 12:30 p.m.
Opelousas Catholic and Mamou square off Monday at 2 p.m. The winner of that contest plays Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. against the winner of the Sacred Heart and Pine Prairie game, which takes place tomorrow night at 6:30 p.m. The OCHS/MHS loser will play the SHHS/PPHS loser Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
This event has featured good quality basketball year in and year out. This year does not look to be any different. The SHHS coaching staff does a great job with this event, so fans are encouraged to attend.
