PPVC approves budget ordinances, hires new officer

During a special meeting of the Pine Prairie Village Council held Monday, November 25, introduced an ordinance to amend the 2013 fiscal year budget and also introduced an ordinance for the 2014 fiscal year budget. A public hearing was set for Thursday, December 12, prior to the next regular council meeting to discuss the ordinances prior to adopting them during the next meeting.
The council approved Police Chief L.C. Deshotel’s recommendation to hire Michael Fruge as a full-time officer contingent upon his passing a psychological evaluation.
With an application deadline of December 13, the council also discussed and approved applying for a $35,000 LGAP (Local Government Assistance Program) grant, which will be used for street repairs around the Ninth Street area.
