Mamou Toys for Tots distributes toys to about 200 children
Mamou Police Department employees hand out toys Thursday, December 19, in the rear of the police station to a Mamou resident. People donated enough toys through this year’s Toys for Tots drive to make this a happy Christmas for about 200 children. Families on Medicaid, who receive child support, welfare or other support signed up for the toys in November. Donation boxes were placed at several locations in Mamou. On Wednesday, Mamou Police Department employees went to Lafayette, to the U.S. Marine Corps armory in Lafayette to pick up some more toys. Shown in the photo are Detective Marie Potter, left, Assistant Chief/Juvenile Officer Katina Richard and, in the background, Sgt. Tosha Douget. Volunteer Tashia Boone also helped with the distribution.
