Below freezing temperatures expected next week
The National Weather Service in Lake Charles is warning of a hard freeze next week.
A cold front is expected to pass through this area today, January 5, which should produce up to a quarter of an inch of rain. Temperatures will drop, with the coldest temperatures expected to be seen on Tuesday morning, January 7, when the entire region will be in the 20s, ranging from the lower 20s in east Texas and central Louisiana, to the upper 20s along the I-10 corridor.
Residents are asked to take proper precautions in protecting their homes from the freezing temperatures.
Temperatures are expected to begin warming up again by Wednesday and Thursday, but there is also a threat of rain or even thunderstorms as weather systems move in.
