Ville Platte High hosts parish science fair

Students from schools all around Evangeline Parish came to Ville Platte High School to have their science projects judged on Wednesday, January 22.
Two of the science fair entries were judged to be the top place, earning trophies during the event.
Layna Fontenot, a Basile High School junior, got the top spot in the senior division with her project, named “What’s Popping?” Layna’s project involved researching and evaluating the differences in packaging of microwave popcorn containers.
Garret Miller, a Sacred Heart seventh grader, was awarded the junior division trophy for his science project, named “Is it Magic or is it Science?” Garret says the answer to that question is that science, and not magic, can explain why something happens.
