Lafleur named to Southwest Louisiana Swim Team

Andy Lafleur, a senior at Sacred Heart High School, was honored at the Southwest Louisiana All-League All-Star Team Banquet at River Oaks Catering and Convention Center in Lafayette, on Tuesday, January 21st. Lafleur has been named to the All-League All-Star Team from earned power points through the NISCA (National Interscholastic Coaches Association). This organization has a system that assigns a numerical value to times swam in a high school swim meet setting during one season. Sixty swimmers, which consisted of the top 30 boys and top 30 girls in the Southwest Louisiana League of over 750 swimmers, were chosen and recognized for their ranking. All swimmers were awarded an All-League plaque for their accomplishments. Andy is ranked 12th overall in the Southwest Louisiana Region’s League! This season Lafleur has made history at Sacred Heart School for his swimming accomplishments. Andy is the first swimmer in the 14 years Sacred Heart has had a swim team, to make the All-District, All-League, and All-State Teams in one season. For times swam during the 2013 season, Andy is ranked sixth for the 100 Freestyle event and seventh for the 50 Freestyle event among all 1A-5A schools in the league. Andy set a school record for qualifying in all eight individual events that are possible to qualify in, at the state level, this season. Lafleur also broke two school records with the fastest time recorded for a Sacred Heart swimmer in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle events. Lafleur is coached by Jan Fontenot, a teacher and coach at Sacred Heart School. He is the son of Sammy and Liz Lafleur of Ville Platte. Congratulations to Andy and his coach, Fontenot, on a job well done.
