Top ranked VPHS hosts Thomas Jefferson today

When was the last time the Ville Platte High Lady Bulldogs were the top ranked team in the playoffs? When was the last time the Lady Bulldogs were in Class 3A? Both are happening as this article is being read. The Lady Bulldogs (26-2) are having one of the best seasons in school history. They have a chance to head back to the state championship, but the road will not be easy. They will play some very tough teams along the way.
The Lady Bulldogs host Thomas Jefferson High School out of New Orleans tonight at 6 p.m. The Lady Jaguars bring a record of 13-13 to VPHS. The New Orleans based school has played tough competition along the way and should be a formidable opponent for the District 5-3A champions.
Ville Platte High has amassed a great record with losses coming to only Southern Lab (18-9) and Lacassine (31-1). After tearing apart their district, the Lady Bulldogs expect to see some stiff competition in the playoffs.
Thomas Jefferson is the 32nd seed and should be a game top seed VPHS wins. However, from there, things won’t be so easy. Ville Platte High would face either 16th seed Brusly or 17th seed Baker in the next round. Brusly hosts that game tonight at 6 p.m,. The two schools faced each other in district and split during the season.
If Brusly (18-10) wins, they would come to VPHS in the second round. If the Lady Buffaloes pull the win over the Lady Panthers, VPHS would head to Baker High School near Baton Rouge.
In VPHS’ way also stands Iota and Rayville, who will be tough to play with as well.
