Pine Prairie police charge man in post office burglary

The Pine Prairie Police Department charged a Pine Prairie man with burglary and felony theft.
At approximately 10 a.m. on February 26, Assistant Chief Chuncey Fontenot responded to the post office in Pine Prairie in reference to a burglary of several parcel lockers.
When Fontenot arrived at the post office, the complainant stated someone had broken into the parcel lockers the previous night and stolen the items inside. The investigation led to Jacob Montie, 28, 1722 Fourth St., Pine Prairie. Officers located all of the stolen items inside Montie’s home and are currently in the process of returning the stolen items to their rightful owners.
Montie was charged with burglary of the post office and theft over $300. His bond was set at $12,500 by 13th Judicial District Judge John Larry Vidrine and he is currently under investigation by the U.S. Postal Inspector Service.
