New Ville Platte royalty to be crowned Sunday afternoon

Time has passed very quickly for the reigning Ville Platte royalty. The outgoing queens are 2013 Miss Ville Platte Carly Chaumont, 2013 Teen Miss Ville Platte Angel Yeager and Jr. Miss Ville Platte Shelbi Rials. These three ladies have done an outstanding job representing the City of Ville Platte throughout the state over the past year. Traveling over 1,000 miles combined, the Ville Platte Women’s Association (VPWA) thanks them for the encouragement and solicitation of our city to all areas. Chaumont will receive a $500 scholarship presented to the school of her choice to continue her education to become a successful business woman in her city, state and nation. The Teen Miss and Jr. Miss outgoing queens also will receive a scholarship for their dedicated participation throughout the past year. These three young ladies will be crowning their successor today, March 16, at the Northside Civic Center during the 2 p.m. scholarship pageant.
The event is hosted by the Ville Platte Women's Association and co-sponsored by the City of Ville Platte. The successor of Miss Ville Platte will continue on to compete in the Cotton Festival pageant held in October as a representative of Ville Platte and receive her $500 scholarship at the end of her reign.
The VPWA, with president Amy Tate and pageant director Dalayne Veillon, is a non-profit organization which members consist of business women in the Evangeline Parish area who work together in support of raising money enabling a young lady from our area to receive a scholarship for continuing her education.
