VPPD charges three in separate theft cases

The Ville Platte Police Department made several recent arrests, one of which is for a case stemming from December.
On March 25, police made an arrest in a case that has remained open since December 2013. Detective Steven Deville reported the case involved money stolen from a local business by an employee.
Upon completion of his investigation, Deville was unable to execute the warrant since the suspect had gone into hiding. However, after time had passed and the suspect found, the warrant was executed without incident on March 25.
Arrested was Donald L. James, 42, 119 Armand St., Ville Platte. James was charged with felony theft over $500.
James was booked into the Ville Platte City Jail, where he remains incarcerated on a $10,000 bond set by 13th Judicial District Judge John Larry Vidrine.
On March 20, Ville Platte Police received a report of a break-in at a local business on East LaSalle. When officers arrived at the business, they discovered damage to the building and multiple items were stolen.
Detective Chateuse James was assigned to the case and video surveillance and completion of her investigation led to the arrest of Ricky Joseph, 37, 1211 West Hickory St., Ville Platte.
Joseph was booked into the Ville Platte City Jail and charged with simple burglary, theft over $1,200 and simple criminal damage to property. Joseph remains incarcerated on a $7,500 bond set by 13th Judicial District Judge Thomas Fuselier.
On March 26, the department responded to a call reporting an employee shoplifting at a business on Tate Cove Road. Officers responded, gathered information and arrested Jeremy Granger, 34 3405 Vidrine Road, Ville Platte.
Granger was transported to the Ville Platte City Jail, where he was charged with simple theft and has since bonded out on a $500 bond.
