Trojans work hard in district, qualify for regional events

Several hardworking Trojan athletes performed well at the District 6-1A Track and Field Meet, which was held at Port Allen High School. The boys and girls had several members place and advance to the regionals, which were held this week.
The boys saw the 4 x 200 meter relay team of Ellis Parrott, Dylan Scully, Jacob Barnes and Mikey Laughlin place second in their event. The same team was also the runner-up in the 4 x 100 meter relay.
On an individual basis, Seth Shipp placed fourth in the javelin and Barnes took fourth in the 100 meter dash. Nathan Fontenot was fourth in the one mile run.
The girls saw Courtney Cloud win the 300 meter hurdles event. The relay team of Gabby Andrepont, Natalie Earles, Hannah Fontenot and Cloud won the 4 x 200 meter relay race. The same team was the runner-up in the 4 x 100 meter relay.
Cloud was also the runner-up in the long jump. Moira Parks took third in the long jump and third in the triple jump. Mary Gil was third in the shot put and Catherine Poche placed third in the 800 meter run.
