VPHS track march towards state
With the State Track Meet just around the corner, the Ville Platte High Track teams have been marching on ever since they won the Evangeline Parish Track and Field Meet. They recently took the 5-3A event and qualified several athletes at the regional meet.
At the district meet, Jermarcus Jones won the 100 meter run and placed fourth in the 200 meter run. Jaquine Anderson won the 200 meter run. Devin Williams was fifth in the 400 meter run. Daylon Jones won the 800 meter run and Devon Vallier was fifth. Daylon Jones won the one mile run and Javonte Anderson placed fourth in the event. The duo placed exactly the same in the two mile run.
The relay team of Tyler Fontenot, Jermarcus Jones, Earnest Ardoin and Jaquine Anderson placed second in the 4 x 100 meter run.
In the 4 x 200 meter run, Darrien Poullard, Jermarcus Jones, Devin Williams and Jaquine Anderson was the team that took the runner-up spot.
The relay team of Devin Williams, Darrien Poullard, Rodrekus Ben and Daylon Jones placed third in their race.
At the field events, Tyler Fontenot took third in the javelin throw event. Terez Alfred was fifth in the triple jump. Poullard won the high jump while Ernest Ardoin was the runner-up.
The boys had four athletes place at the regionals, which qualifies them for state. Jermarcus Jones was third in the 100 meter dash and Jaquine Anderson was third in the 200 meter dash. Daylon Jones was fourth in the 800 meter run
In the field events, Poullard was fourth in the high jump.
Representing the VPHS girls was Antoinette Joseph. She placed third in the 100 meter hurdles.
