Christopher C. Dorsey Sr.

Funeral services were held for Elder Christopher C. Dorsey Sr., 98, of Dallas, Texas, at the Abram Temple Church of God in Christ in Bunkie at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 12. Burial followed in the Antioch Church of God in Christ Cemetery.
Mr. Dorsey died Sunday, April 6, 2014. He was born July 15, 1915, in Beaumont, Texas, to the union of the late Abraham and Susie Dorsey. As a child, he was given spiritual guidance and taught divine precepts by his mother. He attended school at St. James in Alexandria. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. While serving in the military, he was called to the ministry. He was ordained May 2, 1961. Elder Dorsey pastored the St. Joseph Church of God in Christ for over 20 years and Schllan St. Church of God in Christ for a number of years.
Survivors include his wife, Margie Dorsey of Dallas, Texas; four sons, Elder Lorenzo (Barbara) Dorsey, Elder Lawrence (Carloss) Dorsey, James Dorsey and Joseph Dorsey, all of Dallas, Texas; five daughters, Patricia Thompson, Margie Dorsey, Cynthia Dorsey and Joyce Coleman, all of Dallas, Texas, and Ida Nash of California; 18 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Abraham and Susie Dorsey; his wife, Parlee Dorsey; one son, Christopher Dorsey; two daughters, Mary Dorsey and Martha Stafford; and one sister, Helen Dorsey.
Elder James Richardson officiated.
Golden Gate Funeral Home of Dallas, Texas, was in charge of arrangements.
