VPHS recognizes student athletes of 2013-14

It was a new athletic year at Ville Platte High School. The Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs were moved up to Class 3A and forced to compete against some very tough schools. In most cases, these schools were much larger than VPHS but that did not stop the kids in purple and white from competing to the best of their abilities.
All of the sports were competitive, but it was the VPHS Lady Bulldogs basketball team that really left their mark on the state. VPHS Head Coach Dot Doulet guided her young team to the Class 3A State Championship and saw her team crowned the 2014 State Runner-Up after losing a heartbreaker to University High of Baton Rouge.
The school’s faculty and administration honored the group with a banquet at the end of the school year. The banquet was a huge success and served a meal of jambalaya to the those in attendance.
Guest Speaker of the event was Class of 1994 Alum Mason Jack. A huge supporter of VPHS athletics, Jack graduated from Grambling University in 1999 with a BA in Social Work. He also studied at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He is currently the training and compliance coordinator for Lafavette Juvenile Detention Home. He is married to Ruth Jack.
Each sport had various awards handed out such as All-Parish, All-District and All-State. After that, sport specific individual awards were given out by the coaches to the players. The following is a list of sport specific awards given out by the respective coaches.
